Things like that happened a few times, btw. If it is Roy Keane and not a very similarly looking backer. Got no reply, like most of the times, but in case they ever ask we'll switch it up.

Since then, just to be safe, I even sent emails to the representative to ask if they were okay with the cameo in an obscure Russian game. We learned that it either resembled Roy Keane or was Roy Keane more than a year later.

We had backers send us their pictures to become portraits in the original game, and this portrait was one of them.
ATOM RPG TRUDOGRAD REDDIT HOW TO
Like, asking the programmer to do X instead of Y today, despite not knowing how to program, but knowing that X is much more important than Y. Shame! It's fun so far.Īlso, as a co-founder, I sometimes manage the planning of certain things I myself don't understand. This reddit AMA is part of that, technically. When the game is ready I answer feedback on Steam and forums, send game keys to reviewers, like sorta "market" the game, despite not really being a marketing kind of guy. Then I send the edited file to the programmer who puts the localization in. We are happy to work with Scott Hamm who helped with such awesome projects as Age of Decadence and Battle Brothers before starting to help us perfect our English. I do it in Google Sheets then send it to the English editor who makes my terrible translation pretty. When we are finishing up the game, I am the one who makes the first draft of the English translation from the original Russian. I write their dialogue, send it to the programmer who codes it into the game, repeat. I imagine a character, plan out how are they related to other characters, what quest will they give, how (roughly speaking) they will look, what will be the multiple ways of doing their quest (if they have a quest to give). When we are making the game, I am one of the two people who write dialogue. I prototype some things in MS Paint sometimes, for example some dungeons in ATOM RPG were made from my extra rough and terrible looking sketches, and Trudograd's "houses on top of houses" distinct architecture also started with me and my mouse in MS Paint. What the world will be, what the story will be, what the factions and biggest quests will be, when will we make this dungeon, and when will we make this village. When we are planning for the game, I'm one of the three people who write up a design document. Was fun!īeing a small team we all take a variety of roles. Thank you! If you like, I can come back next month with my artists or programmers to have a more tech-oriented talk, or speak of art. Bye!!!ĮDIT 3: I believe I answered all of the late questions as of 1720 hrs EEST.

If you have more - feel free to ask, I'll be answering any new ones in 12-13 hours from now before completely finishing. 21st 0300 hrs EEST, and then I will come back to answer any late arriving questions should there be any.ĮDIT 2: That's a wrap! Thank you guys, some great questions today. I will not be able to answer any technical questions though, since I am not a programmer, graphics designer or anything related to that. While the idea to create this AMA came from the wish to spread awareness of our newly released game ATOM RPG: Trudograd, I would happily discuss our first game, games in general, writing, inspiration sources, hobbies, ambitions, what’s it like being an indie dev, how we run things in the team, share dubious insight & advice, in short ask me anything, and as long as I feel competent enough to provide an answer - I will. On September 13th 2021 we successfully released our second game: ATOM RPG Trudograd, which follows the adventures of the first game, adding improved graphics, combat and larger playstyle variety, but staying loyal to the turn-based formula and the Soviet post-apocalyptic setting. In 2016, using the skills we picked up working elsewhere in game dev, we organized a successful Kickstarter campaign and soon launched our first title: ATOM RPG, a turn-based, post-apocalyptic roleplaying game set in USSR some years after a devastating global nuclear war. We always shared a dream of playing something like Fallout 1 \ 2 again, distraught by the fact Project Van Buren got sacked. We are a team of eleven people from Eastern Europe and Russia, who mostly met online around a decade ago. A brief introduction of our company and this AMA:
